Have You Considered Insurance For Cameras?

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

What is insurance protection for cameras and why may it be important?

If you have looked around and noticed different types of cover you may be confused.

What does it do for you?

insurance for cameras offers you financial and possibly logistical assistance in the event you suffer a major problem with your camera.

The exact detail of the cover provided varies between insurers and even individual policies and do note that your gadget insurance (which can be another name for camera insurance) will be subject to policy limitations, exclusions, terms and conditions.

Typically insurance cover will provide cover for events such as;

· damaging your camera accidentally;

· theft;

· the breakdown of your camera once the warranty has run out – whether the cause is electrical or mechanical.

Some cover may go further and offer:

· optional loss cover, for an additional premium;

· a fast replacement of your camera, usually as quick as 48 hours (from the point your claim is authorised);

· global cover – in other words the many benefits apply even if you’re outside of the UK while travelling etc.

What does it not cover?

This of course depends on your policy and the provider.

It may be the case that:

· loss of the phone is not protected, however you may be able to add this on for extra cost;

· the policy will carry an excess (that is a sum you will be expected to pay as the first part of any claim – it is effectively a mandatory contribution to the total claim cost);

· you may have to report the theft of the phone as soon as it happens to obtain a crime number;

· additional lenses require separate declaration and insurance.

you may not be able to claim if there is any signs that you have been tampering with the camera.

Is it really worthwhile?

The cost of camera insurance protection is typically low when compared to the cost of replacing your camera.

In the end, this boils down to a question of risk assessment or, to put it another way, how lucky you feel.

You may generally never experience theft or any of the other covered risks outlined above. The key question is though – if you do, are you happy at the thought of writing some big cheques?

If you don’t like the sound of that, then insurance cover for cameras may be for you!

Looking For Jet Ski Insurance

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

Jet skis have become very popular and as such so has the need to take out jet ski insurance.If you have spent any time at all by the sea you will no doubt have noticed these jet skis bouncing around off the sea at all kinds of speeds and in quite a few instances the user does not seem to be in full control.

Jet skis are of course very popular with the younger generation. So if you are young and you are looking to take out this kind of insurance the quotes for insurance will be on the high side to say the least.

There are two main types of insurance for jet ski and they are third party liability and comprehensive. Third party liability will give you insurance cover if you cause injury to a third party or cause damage to their vehicle or more usually in this instance, their boat. To take a jet ski out onto the sea or body or water any responsible person will ensure they have the correct insurance to rely on. Comprehensive insurance for jet skis will usually insure the jet ski owner against third party liability as well as accidental damage, fire and theft.

Due to the mobility of a jet ski one of the main problems facing insurers is theft. During the summer season is is common to hear of jet skis being stolen so if it is kept well secured when not in use the insurance premiums usually reflect this in their price. Locking your jet ski away in a garage will of course ensure that it is a great deal safer.

As already mentioned, the age of the user is also taken into account and the same problems typicallyoccur to a younger person as if they were trying to get insured for a sports car. The insurer is taking more risk so the costs will obviously be so much higher.

Something else that you might wish to think about when searching for jet ski insurance is the benefits of obtaining some sort of certificate of proficiency. There should be courses available through one of the many sailing clubs and if you can present one of these to a prospective insurer it will prove that your are a responsible jet skier and this can only have a positive effect on the insurance premiums.
